What is Naturally Raised?

Naturally Raised
is actually quite a simple concept - raising dogs in a way that mimics how they would live in the wild as closely as possible.  By doing this we are able to focus on preventing health issues before they arise by building and maintain a robust immune system.

Raising dogs naturally focuses on a few key areas:

Reduced vaccinations.  The majority of our members do vaccinate - but reduce the number and frequency of immunizations as much as possible.

The avoidance of pesticides is another thing our members try to do.  There are several alternatives that can be employed to deal with fleas and ticks, heartworm preventive and to control worms in your dog.

Our members try to raise puppies as naturally as possible, as well.  This means allowing them to nurse and be raised by their mother as much as possible.  We follow pups and mother lead on when weaning takes place.  Pups are raised with their littermates and the mother is allowed to teach them very important canine social skills past the weaning stage.

Diet is key - and focuses on raw feeding.  There are many different methods of raw feeding, but most feed a raw, meaty bones or whole prey diet.  Benefits our members have seen include:
    -clean teeth
    -less stool produced
    -consistent, slow growth of puppies
    -fresher breath
    -glossy coats
    -better muscle tone
    -elimination  of yeast infections
    -more energy
    -improvement of joint issues
    -easier weight control
    -fewer vet visits
    -reduced food bill

And of course access to fresh water, clean ground, open spaces, lots of exercise, mental stimulation and sunlight are paramount!
